The Arctic has a very special, fragile, and highly interconnected ecological system. The decline or extinction of one Arctic species is likely to trigger a chain reaction that leads to the decline or even extinction of other species. The polar bear is one of the most representative animals that is threatened with extinction due to global climate change. Polar bears rely more on the extreme cold weather of the Arctic than other animals, as they cannot rest or hunt without sufficient sea ice. On Baffin Island, Canada, I came across a mother polar bear sleeping on the ice and snow with her cub.
